The window sill, November
There was a very large window sill running the length of the southern windows, made of Jarrah and very weathered on one side. We were keen to use this timber as the window sill, for the southern windows. In November, we were able to find a carpenter, Adam, who was able to help us with this - he also helped with the security screen on the front door.
He cut the 4m long timber lengthwise, halving the thickness and glued the two halves together, edge on. The sill for the western windows are also visible.
Installation was through the west windows.

And the finished product!
Below, the triming underneath the reworked Jarrah window sill comes from a Marri rafter from the original roofing.
In the end , the only materials we have reused was the wooden ceiling, the inside window sills (4.5m long on the Southern side, and West facing), one of the rafters and the bricks. Everything else was new; the roof tin, the earthwool insulation (made out of recycled glass bottles in Queensland), pine wood studs, panelling, cement fibre boards, nails. We also had lots of treatment in the form of glues and seals for waterproofing and to guard against termites, UV and rot etc.
Ideally, the wood could be reused or burnt, but with the different treatments, very high temperature incineration? Instead, two trips to Henderson Landfill with the trailer, one for insulation, the other for timber (old, partially eaten, weathered, varnished, split, etc.
Always, one or two little bits to do, but, as off the end of November, office renovation sorted!
