Installing the greywater system

This was a huge effort around an off the shelf ecocare greywater system that was essentially a small sump with a pump and sensors that emptied the tank at least once a day.

First, however, we needed to know what the plumbing looked like, there were no diagrams or drawings.

Susanna just started digging.

Then we bought the ecocare system (greywater tank/pump/sensor (the purple thing)) and Peter kept on digging . . .

The old

and the new.

And in the middle of doing the formwork - installing the wooden walls to form where the concrete goes; that was the day we had 50mm of rain - first time in 6 weeks, we get rain. Of course. It is actually good for the concrete to have a lot of moisture around, just extremely uncomfortable for the workers - ie Peter.

Tools of the trade and why a trailer is so handy at times.

Drying concrete. Two trips to the tip to get rid of all the dirt and remaining sand/blue metal mix.

After the formwork has been removed, the greywater system and purple hose is connected up.

Andrew's bit . . . ripping up the paving and laying the hose.

Some decking - quality 2nd hand jarrah in a typical Peter fashion.

And the end of the hose? Now at the highest point of the garden, end of Feb, 2008.
